Holy moly how are we in Q2 already!?
You’ve probably seen that post trend going around on IG.
Social media isn’t real so.. here are some things I’ve been struggling with lately.
I love it, not only because it’s a chance to be honest with each other with where we’re at, but it’s a chance to be honest with ourselves too which can be so hard when we’re trying to run our own businesses and keep that entrepreneurship dream alive.
There’s something I want to bring to your attention, that was brought to mine this week by Chris Misterek the Designer Community Growth Manager from Showit (the best web platform for entrepreneurs imho).
Also, sidenote: if you’re a designer in that Showit Design Hub Community pls reply so I can get to know you! That community has been a huge lifesaver for me over the last 6-8 months or so that I’ve been a part of it.
Chris reminded me this week that MINDSET IS EVERYTHING.
and that THERE ARE GOING TO BE FRUSTRATIONS.
And that as entrepreneurs we need to BE PREPARED TO BE FRUSTRATED, TO PIVOT AND TO GROW.
And when I tell you this hit hard, I mean it hit hard.
I’m telling you all of this because I know I’m not the only one feeling it.
I’m also telling you this, I guess in a way, to give you permission to be honest with yourself too, and to give you the chance to also take a hard look and be confronted with those same questions.
BEFORE YOU START → BRAIN DUMP:
Take two minutes: Remove anything that might distract you, grab a glass of water or a cup of tea, and treat this as a place to drop all of those swirling thoughts and give your ideas a fair chance.
001 → WHAT WERE YOUR GOALS FOR THE LAST QUARTER?
Project-wise, financially, relationally?
002 → DID YOU MEET YOUR MONTHLY GOALS IN ORDER TO SUPPORT YOUR ANNUAL TARGET FOR THIS GOAL CATEGORY?
(project, revenue, community)
003 → WHAT PROJECTS/OFFERINGS PERFORMED THE BEST? WHAT PERFORMED THE WORST?
Why do you think that was the case for each?
004 → WHAT WERE YOUR METRICS OF SUCCESS FOR THESE GOALS?
(ex. Let’s say you had a relational goal to expand your network and get new clients; with a quarterly goal to meet one new person, the metric could be to have made this connection genuine – not focusing on sales or wether this person is a potential client or not.)
005 → WHAT ARE SOME LESSONS YOU’VE LEARNED THROUGH THE SUCCESS OR FAILURE OF YOUR PREVIOUS QUARTER GOALS?
006 → COULD YOU MAKE DIFFERENT DECISIONS OR PIVOTS THIS QUARTER TO “RIGHT THE COURSE” SO TO SPEAK?
007 → WHAT GOALS DID YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR THIS QUARTER THAT DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE “COMPLETE” LIST? WHAT FROM THAT LIST WOULD YOU LIKE TO BRING FORWARD INTO THE NEXT, AND WHAT COULD YOU PROBABLY LEAVE BEHIND?
008 → GO BACK AND LOOK AT YOUR BIG PICTURE GOALS FOR THIS YEAR AND IDENTIFY YOUR FOCUS FOR THE NEXT QUARTER.
P.S. We can’t do it all, and certainly not all at once! Being able to map out your year and break it down into months not only helps you know what to focus on long term, it helps you have a purpose and a plan for every day.. especially those days where you are experiencing a lot of self-doubt. ()
I touch on this a little in the guest pod episode I was on for The Edit Sesh last week. Give it a listen here if you missed it!
P.P.S. If you seriously want to dive into planning out your quarterly/annual goals I highly recommend reaching out to Samantha MacKinnon, she is the ops QUEEEEEN , and also a really great hang; you won’t regret it. She’s also got some really great resources that go really in-depth on this topic that you should absolutely check out.

So many service providers I come into contact with are burning themselves out, bending over backwards to get folks to buy into their services and purchase their products, all while totally ghosting their 24/7 passive salesman (their website).
If this is you, that’s okay, I see you and to be perfectly honest... I’ve been there. This resource will walk you through all of the things you need to consider to have an optimized website that is working to it’s full potential!
