I’ve been going over some common mistakes I’m seeing people make on their websites in this series. Let me tell you about where I’m seeing folks leave their red hot clients out in the cold. Stick around to find out how you can avoid this common mistake.
Where am I seeing folks leave red hot client’s out in the cold?
Throughout their online touch points (social and web) I see folks gatekeeping information. They’re being vague about what clients can expect from their time with them. They’re also making people jump through hoops just to get to some sort of vague idea of their pricing.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Listen to this story about the perfect vendor who made it impossible for me to hire them here.
How do I make sure I’m not making this mistake?
We’re going for the lowest barrier to entry here and that means clear and easy-to-find information.
TO START, HERE IS WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST:
→ Create a section on your services page that clearly expresses your process and what clients can expect when working with you.
→ Make the timeline, deliverables, steps, and investment obvious and easy to find.
→ Create an FAQ section for the common questions you receive and direct potential clients towards it.
→ Even if you offer a custom experience, you can give folks an idea of what kind of investment they’re in for. A great way to do this is by giving ranges or including a “starting at” ballpark for your services. Or you could explain how you get to your final pricing if creating really customer specific quotes is your thing.
→ You could even create a guide that they can download if you don’t feel comfortable putting those numbers up front.
Whatever you do, just remember to make it clear and make it easy for your red hot clients to go all-in on your offer.

So many service providers I come into contact with are burning themselves out, bending over backwards to get folks to buy into their services and purchase their products, all while totally ghosting their 24/7 passive salesman (their website).
