January was long, was it not??? I can’t be the only who gets this sudden burst of renewed energy and enthusiasm (love) for my business in January. I also can’t be the only one who starts to lose steam come February, right? (Pls tell me I’m not alone.) At the beginning of each month, I plan to share the practice that has helped propel my business forward or at least has allowed it to get unstuck from time to time – reflective journaling.
→ Taking all my swirling thoughts out of my brain and onto the page creates space and helps me focus on what’s next.
→ I can’t know where I’m going if it’s not clear where I’ve been.
→ I feel a renewed sense of motivation and purpose going into a new month.
→ Seeing my thoughts and dreams written down also helps me make realistic decisions about what I’m going to do next and what capacity or energy I really have to put towards it.
So this month, I’m sharing with you a series of prompts I’m using to remind me why I love to do what I do and hopefully they help rekindle the spark you have for your business too. *whether you’ve fallen off the wagon of January goals, or not, each day is a new opportunity to regain focus and continue building on what you love.
And because I think it’s important to embody this practice,
you can take a lil peek at my own reflections below.
(OR just skip all the way down to the downloadable PDF)
BEFORE YOU START → BRAIN DUMP:
Take two minutes: remove anything that might distract you, grab a glass of water or a cup and tea and treat this as a space to drop all of those swirling thoughts and give your ideas a fair chance without judgement.
I’ll start where I naturally default (maybe this is just me, but I often gravitate towards dwelling on the frustrating and challenging things before I get to the gratitude part)
001. WHAT FEARS ARE YOU CARRYING AROUND
ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
Scarcity mindset is an issue that most business owners face; nothing is ever steady so it’s easy to feel like there isn’t enough, and that we’re not doing enough. Though these are valid fears, dwelling on them can be really paralyzing and keep us from moving forward. Real talk: There is not a day that goes by that I am not fearful about the future, but I’ve resolved that all I can do is work on what’s in my control, and that’s what I’m focusing on. It’s why I’ve spent all of January planning for the year so that when I feel that fear creeping in I just put my head down and rely on that plans I’ve made and I have something to commit my focus to every week.
002. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO CHANGE IN YOUR
BUSINESS OR YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?
Being a solopreneur can be isolating, so I want to change that in my business.
003. CAN YOU BREAK THAT DOWN INTO SOMETHING TANGIBLE
YOU CAN START THIS MONTH?
One thing I’m working on bringing to you this year is a new collaborative series and so this month I’m working on finessing the structure of the collab and will be reaching out to potential collaborators.
004. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR AS A BUSINESS OWNER?
I have to return to this often to put everything into perspective. I’m grateful for the spaciousness I’ve created within my business. I have enough time to work and enough time to do other things that make my life feel rich (ability to leave my desk at any moment, flexibility in my schedule to spend time with people closest to me, the freedom to choose whatever fitness class time I like, allowing me to work in any environment I’d like … )
Sometimes all it takes to rekindle the love and feel purposeful in my business is to lift my head and take a look around at the amazing support system around me.
005. WHO ARE THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOUR BUSINESS BETTER? CAN YOU REFLECT ON WHAT SPECIFIC THINGS THEY CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR BUSINESS OR COMMUNITY? HOW CAN YOU EXPRESS YOUR GRATITUDE TOWARDS THIS SUPPORT SYSTEM THIS MONTH?
I love snail mail; there’s something fun about receiving something in the mail, so I’ll probably try this method out this month.
006. WHAT ELSE CAN YOU OFFER YOUR CLIENTS OR AUDIENCE THIS MONTH? IS THERE A WAY TO CONNECT WITH THEM EVEN DEEPER? HOW CAN YOU GIVE, WITHOUT OVER-EXTENDING YOURSELF OFC? WHAT’S SOMETHING VALUABLE YOU COULD SHARE WITH THEM IN FEBRUARY?
If you’re a client of mine, you’ll find an email coming your way detailing something really cool I’ve been working on specifically for you this month!

So many service providers I come into contact with are burning themselves out, bending over backwards to get folks to buy into their services and purchase their products, all while totally ghosting their 24/7 passive salesman (their website).
If this is you, that’s okay, I see you and to be perfectly honest... I’ve been there. This resource will walk you through all of the things you need to consider to have an optimized website that is working to it’s full potential!
